This was the setting for most of the royal banquets and some of the most important ceremonies of the 19th century, such as the acclamation of King D. Miguel (1828) or the wedding of Prince Carlos (1886).
It is a stunning room, decorated with a profusion of plants and silver that glowed in the candlelight, multiplied by monumental mirrors.
Even today, the President's banquets are served in this hall.
Displayed on the sideboards and tables, the pieces of jewelry from the 17th to the 19th century, produced in the best national and European workshops, along with the Chinese porcelain services, attest to the richness of the table arts of the portuguese royal house.
The ceiling decoration is an allegory of King João VI's birthday and around this composition the Seasons of the Year have been represented.
