This highly original room is lined with alabaster given by the Viceroy of Egypt to the King of Portugal. Thus was born the winter garden at the Ajuda Palace, essential in the second half of the 19th century.
A space for leisure and distraction, this room was also used for family dinners, served to groups of 20-30 people, who sat at a square table around the Carrara marble fountain.
Christmas parties were organised here for the Princes and their friends.
