Currently restored to its original form, this was the ballroom during the reign of King Luís.
English-made chandeliers accentuated the sparkle of the jewellery and silk dresses that made up the party scene.
The decorative painting in this room, completed in 1825, covers the walls and ceiling. It is an allegory of the Happy Return of His Most Faithful Majesty King João VI from Rio de Janeiro to the City of Lisbon. The monarch, accompanied by Neptune and Father Ocean, enters the Tagus on a seashell followed by his family.
The ceiling depicts a Council of the Gods.
The Empire-style seating furniture was made in Portugal.
