On medical advice, King Luís moved his bedroom to the noble floor in 1888, the last year of his life. Part of the king's furniture was brought to this room that year, and the ground-floor chambers were transformed into small rooms.
In neo-Renaissance style, the furniture was made in Portugal from oak.
On the chest of drawers, the 19th century English crystal service bears the monogram "LB" (Luís de Bragança).
