The main wall features a portrait of Queen Maria Pia, aged 33, dressed in blue and white (the colours of the portuguese monarchy), painted by Carolus Duran. Curiously, the queen was depicted without jewellery due to her reputation for being a spendthrift.
The two large landscapes were offered to king Pedro V and queen Stephanie and represent the castles of the queen's family of origin: Hohenzollern Castle and Sigmaringen Castle.
The seating furniture is said to have belonged to the ship Príncipe Real, on which the royal family travelled to Brazil following the French invasions.
A piece of exceptional quality is the credenza between the windows, executed in Madrid for the Spanish royal house and commissioned by King Carlos III, grandfather of Queen Carlota Joaquina (wife of King João VI).
The ceiling represents Peace which, accompanied by Harmony, repels Discord.
