The Blue Room was entirely decorated by Queen Maria Pia as a family space.
The blue silk wall panelling (recently restored) gives this room its name.
It was an intimate living room where people played, read, chatted or listened to songs.
In this room we can see pictures of the Queen's relatives as well as sculptures of Princes Carlos (future King Carlos I) and Afonso, as well as the Resignation, an Italian marble statue from the mid-19th century.
The charon table, made in China for export, served as a game table.
